Blueberry Sauce

Vibrant and bursting with blueberries, this sauce takes literally 5 minutes to make and is delicious with pancakes, yoghurt, granola, muesli, rice pudding, custard, porridge, waffles, French toast, cake e.g. lemon cake – whatever needs a delicious sweet fruity sauce and takes your fancy!

You can use fresh or frozen berries and it can be sweetened with honey, maple syrup, agave syrup, any sugar or even not sweetened at all – totally up to you!

How to make Blueberry Sauce

Collect all your ingredients together:

  • blueberries – fresh or frozen
  • sweetener e.g. honey, maple syrup, agave nectar or sugar
  • water

Quickly cook:

  1. Add your chosen sweetener to the blueberries.
  2. Add the water.
  3. Bring to a gentle simmer for around 5 minutes or until the blueberries have broken down to your liking.
  4. Pour into a jug ready to serve.

Ingredients

  • 250g fresh or frozen blueberries
  • 25ml/5 teaspoons sweetener, honey, agave or maple syrup or sugar (or to taste)
  • 25ml/5 teaspoons water

Instructions

  1. Collect together your equipment (see Recipe Notes below) and ingredients.

  2. Add the sweetener and water to the blueberries.

  3. Bring to a gentle simmer for around 5 minutes or until the blueberries have broken down to your liking.

  4. Pour into a jug ready to serve.
