Jump to Recipe

Hot Chilli Honey: deliciously sweet honey, slightly salted and spicy from hot chilli flakes and freshly ground black pepper is an incredibly useful condiment to have in the cupboard at any time of the year and makes a wonderful Christmas gift. It complements a range of winter recipes and can be used to quickly brighten many quick and easy dishes; a wonderful way to impress over this busy Christmas season!

I first posted this @casualfoodist recipe (see details below) last March but, recently, I have made up lots of jars to include in my Christmas hampers and give as gifts. It is exceedingly quick and easy to make, using 3 basic ingredients plus some salt and pepper, and can be used in so many different ways:

Baked Camembert with Hot Chilli Honey

Burrata cooked in Filo Pastry with Roast Vegetables and Hot Chilli Honey

Hot, dreamy burrata cheese cooked in crispy filo pastry, served with roast cherry tomatoes, pepper/capsicum, garlic, olives and basil, all drizzled with hot chilli honey. Oh. My. Giddy. Aunt!! Charlotte and I were certainly giddy with excitement when we ate this for lunch recently.

If you don’t like/don’t have any burrata, replace it with any of the following cheese for a slightly different and still fabulously delicious take on this recipe:

  • mozzarella cheese
  • feta cheese
  • saganaki cheese

Roast Parsnips, Carrots and Brussels Sprouts with Hot Chilli Honey

If you would like to add a little spice to your roast vegetables, why not use some use some Hot Chilli Honey? It will add a lovely warmth as well as delicious sweetness to your dish. I love the chilli heat and think it works wonderfully well, even with a classic roast.

Drizzle over Pizza:

Up your quick fix, speedy meal by cooking a shop bought pizza and drizzling it with Hot Chilli Honey before you serve it. Here, I cooked a Pepperoni Pizza and, when cooked, threw on some fresh rocket and drizzled it with this delicious honey. Sooooo good.

Hot Honey Chilli Cocktail Sausages

No Christmas Day, Christmas party, Christmas film or Christmas meal is complete without cocktail sausages – however many fancy pants nibbles and treats you make, these are always the first to disappear.
